County board holds line on property taxes – 6th year without a tax increase!
STROUDSBURG, PA — Once again, a check on the majority of the Monroe County commissioners reveals they will hold the line on county property taxes. That decision was announced at Friday’s emotionally charged unveiling of the 2007 proposed budget.
It would mark the sixth year in a row without a tax increase.
That does not compare to Grove City, PA who have not raised property taxes for 25 years. That demonstrates an example of integrity toward their taxpaying homeowners. That city council need to be held up as an example to be copied everywhere taxes are levied.
Basic economics teaches "economy of scale." It means things are more economical and less expensive when dealing with a larger numbers, assuming the administrators have not sticky fingers or are intoxicated by a spending habit. It can be done!
